Join the fun on Sunday, October 8 from 2-4 pm as we share together reconnecting with God, nature, and each other in our church family! We will meet at the Dustin Preserve, 1802 Chapman Road, Huntertown (approximately a 15-20 minute drive from the church). The barn on this Acres property will serve as our starting point and gathering place.
Our time together will begin with sharing by Nathan Simon, landscape architect and executive director of Blue Heron Ministries, Inc. Nathan is an accomplished botanist who weaves his love for God, the Bible and nature preservation into his daily life. Following his brief sharing time in the barn, Acres docents and Nathan will lead guided nature hikes on the surrounding trails, all of which are short and easy to moderate. They will point out the beauty of God’s creation and will identify plants and features along the trails.
Following the hiking, we will gather by the fire to make s’mores and chat with one another!
No RSVP’s are needed for this fun, free family hiking afternoon! We know it won’t meet the challenge of Pastor Russ’s hiking the 3 peaks in the United Kingdom, but we will definitely be reconnecting with God, nature and one another….and having lots of fun!
Be sure to pack a lawn chair and know that restrooms are available! While this is not handicapped accessible, there is an unloading area by the barn and all will enjoy Nathan’s talk and s’mores whether or not you wish to hike. If there is inclement weather, we will cancel by noon on October 8!
Mark your calendar now for Sunday, October 8 at 2 pm to join in this Family Nature Hike for an afternoon of fun and reconnecting!
