September Missions Focus
The Goal – Send A Truckload of Water To Hurricane Harvey Victims
How You Can Help
It is $3,088 to send a Truckload of Water to Hurricane Harvey Victims (at cost of supporting company). Through the Missions budget and other contributions, more than half of the necessary funds have already been raised. The Saint Joseph Missions Team invites the congregation of Saint Joseph to help pay for the rest. All September Missions donations – and donations over the cost of the truck – will go directly to victims of Hurricane Harvey including sending a truckload of water. Donations to Saint Joseph Missions online can be done through the normal Saint Joseph Give Portal. Just enter the amount you would like to donate in the box next to “Other-indicate ministry in message box below.” Just type “Missions” and you are good to go. Thank you for helping support those in need of love, water, and support. We hope you join us in praying for those who will be receiving the water. Thank You!

Homelessness Task Force
The Homelessness Task Force at Saint Joseph will continue to meet community needs in 2017 and needs your help! Moving forward with our goal to meet needs of the homeless children in the Fort Wayne Community School (FWCS) system, we have now established a Clothing Bin inside our church for your donations of gently used clothing and new underwear and socks. The bin is located in the hallway outside the Sanctuary and opposite the coat racks. All donated items will be provided to students in FWCS needing clothing due to poverty, homelessness or following a disaster, such as a flood or fire. Students in need are referred to the clothing bank by a case manager or counselor at their school.
Kenya Simba Scholars
In the 2011 Saint Joseph United Methodist Church founded Kenya Simba Scholars in western Kenya near its borders with Uganda and Tanzania. The goal of Kenya Simba Scholars is to help children at risk of poverty. This is done through quality education and the teaching of the Gospel. In 2015 Kenya Simba Scholars joined forces with Kids Alive to expand their work in this part of Kenya.
Kenya Simba Scholars and Kids Alive not only helps raise individuals our of poverty, but also encourages those individuals to “pay it forward” by returning to their community and helping raise up others.
How You Can Help
For $39/month or $468/year you can radically change the life of a child through sponsorship of a Simba Scholar. This sponsorship provides tuition assistance, spiritual development, career guidance, and family and community support. In return you will receive a photo and profile of your child as well as regular updates.
