At Saint Joseph UMC we have tried to make giving easy and accessible for all people. You may give by placing an offering in the offering plate on Sunday mornings, with a debit card online or on your mobile device, or through electronic funds transfer (EFT) right from your checking or savings account. The frequency of your giving is also up to you. Recurring gifts may be scheduled online weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, or you may also give one-time gifts online, as well. Check-out the specifics below for online and electronic funds transfer.
We use SecureGive as our online and debit card service provider. To set-up a secure account, please click on the SecureGive logo below and in 2 minutes or less you can start giving conveniently today. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover debit cards may be used to give online. Once you establish your account you may also choose to save your credit/debit card information for future use, set-up recurring giving, or make a one-time donation. You may give to the following funds via debit card: General Fund, Reaching Out/Capital Campaign, or “other” specific ministries (describe the ministry in the message box). Saint Joseph UMC does not encourage going into debt when giving.
ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER (EFT) &BILL PAY
If you would prefer to have your contributions electronically transferred from your checking or savings account or through bill pay, (which you can set up through your own bank) you will need to contact Ann Burdick, our Financial Administrator in the church office at 260-485-9681 ext. 14 or email@example.com. She will provide you with an EFT Authorization Form which is required to begin this process. Once you establish an EFT agreement it remains in effect indefinitely. You may, however, change the amount, frequency, or cancel an EFT agreement at any time.
Frequently Asked Questions about Online Giving
Q: Is it safe to give online?
Yes. In many ways giving online is safer than writing a check because an electronic gift cannot be lost or stolen. The security of the system is continually managed by SecureGive.
Q: What types of bank accounts can I give from?
You can give online from your checking account via debit card transaction.
Q: Are there any fees involved with giving online?
Not to you. You will not pay any fees with an online gift. In addition, online gifts are a more cost-efficient way for the church to process donations. The bill pay option through your bank ensures that 100% of yor donation is received by the church.
Q: Can I make a one-time contribution?
Yes. The system allows you the option of either making a one-time contribution or setting up a recurring contribution. For a one-time contribution, you can designate that the contribution should be made immediately or, for both one-time and recurring contributions, you can schedule the contributions to come out of your bank account on the date(s) specified by you.
Q: If I want to set-up a recurring gift, what are my options for frequency of my gift?
For recurring gifts, you have the option of giving weekly, twice a month, or once a month.
Q: Can I change my personal information or the amount or the frequency of my gift once I have set it up?
Yes. You can change or cancel your contribution at any time before the date of your next contribution. Simply log in to the system using your user name and password and make the necessary changes in the system.
Q: Can I review my donation history online?
Yes. The site will allow you to view and print the complete history of your contributions that have been given online.
Q: Will I still receive regular contribution statements from the church?
Yes. The church will continue to send quarterly contribution statements to your address on file for information and tax purposes.
Q: When will contributions be withdrawn from my account?
Contributions will be withdrawn from your specified bank account within 48 business hours of the date you request. This time frame allows for the contribution to process through your bank and the church’s bank. If the date of your contribution falls on a weekend or a holiday, the transaction will be initiated on the next banking day.
Q: Can I designate my gift to a particular ministry?
Gifts can be given to the General Fund, Reaching Out/Capital Campaign, or there is also an Other category where you can designate to another ministry not listed.
Q: How will I know that I set up my gift correctly?
Immediately after submitting your contribution, you will receive an e-mail verifying your contribution.
Q: I have additional questions about online giving that have not been addressed. Who can I talk to?
For any questions, concerns or comments about the online giving system, please contact Ann Burdick, Financial Administrator. You will receive a response from our staff as soon as possible.
